Part 1 · Interview
Travel
Short answers. About 20 to 30 seconds each. Answer, give a reason, add one detail.
Do you enjoy travelling? Why?
Yes, very much. I love the feeling of arriving somewhere new. Everything is interesting, even the smallest things, like the shops and the street signs. Travelling also helps me forget about daily stress.

- even the smallest thingseven little details
- forget about daily stressstop thinking about normal problems
Have you done much travelling? Why?
Not as much as I'd like. I've travelled to most big cities in my country, but I've only been abroad twice, to Turkey and Armenia. Travelling abroad is expensive for us, so I'm saving for my next trip.
- Not as much as I'd likeless than I want
- I've only been abroad twicetwo times in other countries
- I'm saving for…keeping money for
Is it better to travel alone or with other people? Why?
I prefer travelling with one or two good friends. It's more fun, and it's safer. You can share costs and make memories together. But travelling alone can be good too, because you're completely free and you meet more new people.
- share costsdivide the money you spend
- make memories togetherdo things you'll remember together
- completely freeyou can do anything you want
Where would you like to travel in the future? Why?
I'd love to visit Italy. I'm interested in its history, like the old buildings in Rome. And of course, I want to try real Italian pizza and pasta! I also want to see Venice, the city on water.

- the city on watera city with canals instead of roads
Part 2 · Cue card
A child that you know
You get 1 minute to prepare and then speak for 1 to 2 minutes. Follow the four points on the card in order.
Candidate task card
Describe a child that you know.
You should say:
- who this child is and how often you see him or her
- how old this child is
- what he or she is like
- and explain what you feel about this child
Start
I'd like to talk about my niece, Tara. She's my brother's daughter, and she's a very special little girl.
Who she is and how often you see her
My brother lives in the same city, so I see Tara almost every weekend. Sometimes I pick her up from kindergarten when her parents are busy.
How old she is
She's five years old. She'll start primary school next year, and she's already very excited about it.
What she is like
She's very talkative and full of energy. She never stops asking questions, like why the moon follows the car. She loves drawing, and she always gives me her pictures as presents. She's also very kind. When I'm sick, she makes me 'medicine' with water and sugar.
How you feel about her
I love her very much. Being with her makes me happy, and she reminds me to enjoy simple things. I also feel responsible for her, because I'm her uncle, and I want to be a good example. I keep all her drawings in a box, and I'll give them to her when she grows up.

Part 3 · Discussion
Parents, children and free time
Longer answers. About 30 to 45 seconds. Give your opinion, explain why, and give an example.
How much time do children spend with their parents in your country? Is it enough?
It depends on the family. In many families, both parents work long hours, so children spend most of the day at school or with grandparents. They see their parents mainly in the evening. I don't think it's enough, especially for young children.
- It depends on the familydifferent families are different
- work long hourswork many hours
- mainly in the eveningmostly at night
How important is spending time together for parents and children?
It's very important. When parents spend time with their children, they understand them better, and children feel loved and safe. They also learn values from their parents. Even simple things, like eating dinner together, make a big difference.

Have relationships between parents and children changed in recent years? Why?
Yes, they've changed a lot. In the past, parents were very strict, and children didn't question them. Today, parents are more like friends. They talk more and listen to their children's opinions. I think this is because of education and new ideas about raising children.
- very strictwith many hard rules
- didn't question themdidn't ask why or disagree
- more like friendscloser and less formal
What are the most popular free-time activities for children today?
Playing video games and watching videos on tablets are the most popular. Many children also have activities after school, like swimming, football or music lessons. Fewer children play outside in the street than in the past.
- on tabletson small touch-screen computers
- after schoolwhen school finishes
- Fewer children…a smaller number of children
Are the free-time activities children do today good for their health? Why?
Some are, and some aren't. Sports and dance are great for their health. But spending many hours on screens is not good. It can hurt their eyes, their sleep and their posture. Children need to move and play outside more.

How will children's activities change in the future? Will this be positive?
I think more activities will be online or use technology, like virtual reality games and coding clubs. This could be positive, because children will learn useful skills. But I'm worried they'll be less active and spend less time with real friends.
- coding clubsgroups that teach programming
- This could be positive, because…a possible good result
