Television

Short answers. About 20 to 30 seconds each. Answer, give a reason, add one detail.

How often do you watch television? Why?

Not very often, maybe two or three times a week. I prefer watching series and films online, because I can choose what to watch and when. I usually watch normal TV only for football matches or the news.

Start

I'd like to talk about a man we called Uncle Jalal. He wasn't really my uncle, but he was my father's closest friend, so we called him that.

Who he was

He was a tall, cheerful man with a big laugh. He worked as a pilot, so he travelled all over the world. He wasn't married, so he spent a lot of his free time with our family.

How your family knew him

He and my father were classmates in high school, and they stayed best friends all their lives.

How often he visited

He visited us about once a month, usually after a long trip. Every time, he brought small presents from different countries, like chocolates from Switzerland or toys from Japan.

Why you remember him

I remember him because he made my childhood more exciting. He told me stories about the places he'd seen, and he showed me photos of cities I'd never heard of. I think he's the reason I love travelling today. He passed away a few years ago, and I still miss his visits.

Friendship at different stages of life

Longer answers. About 30 to 45 seconds. Give your opinion, explain why, and give an example.

What makes someone a good friend to a whole family?

A good family friend is kind to everyone, not only to one person. They remember the children's birthdays, help when there's a problem and join family celebrations. Most of all, the whole family trusts them.

Do we meet different kinds of friends at different stages of our lives?

Yes, definitely. At school, friends are usually people we play with. At university, we meet friends who share our ideas and dreams. At work, friends are often colleagues. And when we have children, we often become friends with other parents.
